Speak Life

I was just thinking about how important it is to “speak life” when you open your mouth to say anything. Each word you speak is a tiny little messenger delivering & distributing intent and action.

A little over a year ago there was a woman who kept swirling my name in the atmosphere. She made sure there was dirt, dust & debris attached to each syllable of my name.

Her rumors, innuendos & outright lies didn’t serve her well; but through that trial I inherited the blessing of an unlikely person who is now a tremendous friend & confidant.

Had she not been busy “speaking death” in order to maintain her ego, I may have continued on my journey having never crossed paths with such a remarkable person.

It is an irritant to deal with your name being squandered on the lips of the discontented & all things being human, I can tell you “speaking life” through that situation was a test of my beliefs, it was difficult to stay the course & I certainly slipped & fell into some epic “curse outs” but I recognized my actions, picked my mouth out the gutter, rinsed it out, checked my beliefs and carried on.

Everyone gets angry; Speaking Life is not about being perfect in speech, it’s about being pure in your intentions.

So today try to “speak life” into the atmosphere and see how much better you’ll feel.

You have no idea what treasure you may gain. – Iya Isoke (reflecting on the gains & leaving the losses where they lay)

About The "SoKey" Experience

Each morning I wake I pour myself into a goblet, slowly inhaling the scent of my own faults, swirling them around the glass, allowing them to breath, then I sip, allowing my own inconsistencies to soak my tongue before swallowing. If I am tipsy from my own frailties - I'm less likely to become drunk on yours. -SoKey (introspection)

  1. I am happy that you’ve shared the negative, in a positive form. I enjoyed this SoKey…great poets think alike!
