I am a voyeur. I watch people. I pay attention to things in a way that most people don’t. I don’t always like what I see. My friends will tell you that I’m prone to verbal tantrums. I become obsessed with the vanity of people. This can be somewhat disruptive to my day-to-day responsibilities so to counteract my ire – I write about it. Here on this page you will find the contents of the inner workings of my brain. Let’s begin shall we?
I was a commuter from Harrisburg to Philadelphia for close to a year. I paid a monthly fare and rode the Amtrak train every morning at 5am – then every night by 5pm. The commute took a toll on my health. I didn’t notice until I found it a necessity to ride in the “Quiet” car both ways. One fine ride – this happened.
During my commute to Philadelphia I learned to ride the Subway. When I lived in Atlanta I rode the Marta. It was clean, air-conditioned and my time spent on the MARTA was typically relaxing. The SEPTA system, well that’s a horse of another color. So I learned one day. So I learned.
Not every observation is humorous. There have been moments where I’ve doubted why we are allowed to continue as a species. There are profoundly sad moments that I find so hard to digest that I can do nothing more than weep and write.
INSIDE THE EDITIONS
When I started my “What IS That!” page (note the exclamation mark) I was still commuting, working long hours, sickly (anemia – don’t worry that blog post is coming too) and simply too tired to keep up with all the ridiculousness I encountered on a near daily basis. I did do some drive by “damn I’m so disgusted” posts on Facebook. I’m currently in remission from the 140 character fix for which I was stricken. I’m going to transfer those quick posts from Facebook to my blog. That way I can reach deep down into the core of my disgust and serve it up on a nice paper platter for you to enjoy! 🙂 This is going to be sooooooooo healing for me!
Let’s see what ignorance 2014 brings to the table!
